Heart to Pen, Healing Grief

Heart To Pen, Healing Grief

Writers' Sacred Sound Meditation Workshop

In this workshop, we will discover how conscious movement and the sacred sounds of the Gong help to free deep body memory of our grief. Using the breath, guided imagery, and movement, these deeply held emotions are freed allowing reflective writing to help us to release their painful hold as our feelings pour out through the written word.

Chris Zimonick is a registered Yin and Kundalini Yoga teacher and is a certified Sound Massage Therapist. She uses her expertise in these three areas to lead Yoga Nidra Meditations and perform Sacred Sound Baths. Her work combines with that of Marggie Hatala, Certified Doulagivers End of Life Doula Trainer and Reflective Writing Coach, to open the body’s channels, helping all to feel the physical release of old memory and to express our deepest feelings in reflective writing exercises.

Participants will typically experience a sense of deep connectedness and peace, combined with a renewed focus towards their life’s purpose ahead. All feel the unconditional love that is accessed through these two mediums. For those participants that desire ongoing support in expressing their grief, both Chris and Marggie see clients individually to help this powerful process.

Yin Yoga, Sound Healing & Ayurveda for Winter

Yin Yoga, Sound Healing, & Ayurveda

Ayurvedic coach Sarah Evenson, founder of The Dandelion Culture, will join us for a special Monday evening Yin Yoga class and Sound Healing for Winter.

Water is the primary element of winter, according to the wisdom of Ayurveda and since the Yin practice focuses on the water element a complementary relationship occurs with Yin and Ayurveda to restore an overall sense of vibrancy and vitality in the body by stimulating the flow of chi. As we stimulate the chi, we can begin to move out of the stagnation of winter helping to move through our intentions and flow forward to set up our mind, body, and life for success once spring arrives.

The Yin practice with sound massage bowls will be followed by a gong sound healing and flow into a 30-minute mindfulness session. We will explore Ayurveda and the wisdom of syncing up with Nature, a sustainable approach based in love for the journey towards your most radiant self and life. A seasonal Ayurvedic snack will be provided.

No previous yoga experience is necessary, appropriate for all ages and levels. Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing.

Yin Yoga Sequence to Lift Your Mood

Yin Yoga Sequence to Lift Your Mood

Jenstar Movement Studio Thursday 10am
We’ll be addressing the liver meridian, associated with both anger and kindness. When chi is blocked along the liver meridian, anger, irritability, and frustration can arise
The flip side of anger is kindness. If we can recognize that we are not our anger—that we are just identifying in that moment with the state of anger—then we can co-exist with our anger, and kindness can emerge. The irritability becomes like a storm passing through, and we realize (thanks to that mindfulness) that we don’t have to react to it.

Sunday Morning, Donation-Based, Sacred Gong Bath

Donation-based - Everyone is welcome, regardless of ability to pay.

The gong is one of the oldest instruments of healing and has been used for thousands of years in meditation, ceremony, and rituals. Today, they are used in yoga and meditation classes, sound therapy practice, group gong bath meditations and in palliative and cancer treatment centers to promote health and well-being.

According to Don Conreaux, “The secret of the gong is its tremendous potential for healing and rejuvenation. Because the gong covers the full spectrum of sound, it vibrates all the cells and bones and organs, some more than others, depending upon the pitch of the gong. You feel an influx of energy coming from it in your body as well as hear it."

Yoga Nidra and Sacred Gong Bath

“There will come a time when a diseased condition will not be described as it is today by physicians and psychologists, but it will be spoken of in musical terms, as one would speak of a piano that was out of tune”
– Rudolf Steiner.

We begin with a 30-minute Yoga Nidra practice, one of the deepest of all meditations, flowing directly into a gong meditation.

The Sound of Yin is a series of meditative yin asanas that focus on cleansing and renewal… a practice of moving physical matter (your body) through the spiritual plane. Beginning with the restorative powers of Yin Yoga coupled with the healing vibrations of sound massage, we flow into Yoga Nidra, one of the deepest of all forms of meditation. The 2 hour session is climaxed with a Gong Concert.

Every Thursday Yin Yoga and Gong Meditation

All around us life bursts with miracles. If we live in Awareness, it is easy to see miracles everywhere.
~ Thich Nhat Hanh

Every Thursday Morning in Green Bay

Yin Yoga is a quiet, meditative practice of long-held passive poses that enhance and renew the body’s vital energy, ease joint rigidity, and immobility, and nourish the body at the cellular level. Yin aids with digestion, muscle repair, organ detoxification and emotional processing. The gentle, supported postures allow the connective tissue (ligaments, tendons, joints, and fascia) to strengthen, and with a consistent practice, you will notice postural improvement, increased ease of movement and overall balance of mind, body and spirit. This is the perfect complementary practice to any strength building or cardio exercise as well as an active Yang or Vinyasa practice.

The practice flows directly into Savasana with a Sacred Gong Meditation sealing your practice, uniting energy and spirit. The Gong is one of man’s oldest therapeutic instruments and has been used in yoga, sound meditation and vibrational therapy for ages. Gongs are used for stress reduction, stimulation of the glandular system, and as a facilitator to break up emotional blockages, the perfect compliment to a Yin yoga class.

Peace in the Village

Peace Frequency Heads North to Baileys Harbor

The Peace Frequency Community, a Door County group gaining greater local following, is hosting “Peace in the Village,” an afternoon of music, reflection and a guided sound meditation. After a well-attended first event in Sturgeon Bay last December, their second public event, takes place on Sunday, March 5 at the Baileys Harbor Town Hall with unassigned seating available beginning at 12:30 PM and the event commencing at 1 PM. Everyone in the Door community is invited to share the experience of tuning-in to the frequency of peace. Bring a yoga mat, pillow and blanket, if desired.

Jane Sommers will open the event in song followed by Ame Thorson, who will greet and invite the participants to join in guided meditation. Prior to the meditation, Megan Lundahl will offer a reading of peace. Sound therapist, Christine Zimonick will create soothing and magical vibrations with the gong. The event will end with quiet, and participants will leave with the resonance of peace.

Dr. Joe Dispenza, researcher, chiropractor, lecturer and author, supports the notion that meditation is the new medicine. As one of the founding members of Peace Frequency, Ame Thorson explains, “When we go deep inside of ourselves and change a thought pattern, our whole biology changes and that is one way we can heal. When we all get into the frequency of our hearts we can change the vibration of our immediate surroundings as well as spread peace into the community and beyond.”

This event is Donation Based and is organized by the following Peace Pilgrims: Ame Thorson, Christine Zimonick, Alisa Landman, Jane Sommers, Beth Stracka, Megan Lundahl, and Dorothy Scott. Find out more about The Peace Frequency Community on Facebook at www.facebook.com/PeaceFrequency.

“If we accept that sound is vibration and we know that vibration touches every part of our physical being, then we understand that sound is heard not only through our ears but through every cell in our bodies.”

"Sound enters the healing equation from several directions: It may alter cellular functions through energetic effects; it may entrain biological systems to function more homeostatically; it may calm the mind and therefore the body; or it may have emotional effects, which influence neurotransmitters and neuropeptides, which in turn help to regulate the immune system–the healer within.”
